TikTok has been blowing up recently with clips of people using AI image extenders to enhance their pictures with different hilarious or creative backgrounds. Since I work as a photographer, I made it my goal to find the best AI image extender and learn how my photos can benefit from it.
When reviewing these tools, I uploaded a product picture I took to see how each website/software can process it. My results and feedback you can see below.
Verdict: Probably my favorite thing about Adobe Firefly is its capability to transform bland images into eye-catching art pieces with the help of AI. It can do everything from beautifying product photos for eCommerce stores to generating stunning images fit for marketing campaigns. I often rely on this tool to produce images that speak to my audience and grab their attention.
However, the most noteworthy addition to this Photoshop AI tool is its collaborative nature. It not only offers recommendations but directly engages the user in the creation process, inspiring you with new ideas and concepts.
I didn't have to mess around with the service for long - it was very user-friendly and generated the perfect result on the first try. I liked that the foreground in the final photo was blurred – it made it look like a real photo taken with a camera not my iphone.

Verdict: What I like the most about this AI image generator tool is the employed context-aware algorithms. As such, it doesn’t just make random changes, but first examines the content of the image and then makes appropriate adjustments.
This photo enlargement software can both expand the borders of the picture (AI outpainting feature) and add missing image areas (AI inpainting feature).
As for the results, I was pleased with their quality and realism, so I didn't have to generate them again. The final photo didn't have any unclear or fuzzy objects, which created the effect of a real photo, I just needed to change the orientation – it was quite good as you see above.

Verdict: Fotor proved to be a fantastic addition to my arsenal, helping me create social media posts, attention-grabbing marketing materials, and beautiful product images. I particularly appreciate the freedom to change the photo size and aspect ratio to ensure it fits the needed platform perfectly.
Fotor is highly efficient at fixing and improving the look of flawed images. It can crop, enhance, and change the background of a photo to ensure it looks perfect. I often rely on this tool if I want to deal with framing problems or add depth to an otherwise flat photo.
Since the service generates three results for your photo at once, I was able to get what I wanted on the first try. However, two out of the three options didn't satisfy me in terms of realism. The service also added some kind of frame, which looks nice overall, but it may not fit the concept of the photo.

Verdict: My favorite feature in the Canva editor is its Magic Expand feature that allows me to deal with common framing problems and overly zoomed-in photos, producing results that guarantee the added elements blend in with the original image perfectly.
Whether I need to create an advertisement banner, poster, or social media post, I often turn to Canva. It’s highly versatile and lets me customize the image size, ensuring it has the optimal dimensions for different platforms. It makes the process of fitting the same photo to Instagram, YouTube, and a website banner a breeze.
When it comes to the results, Canva added bright colorful flowers to my photo, which look nice and realistic overall, but they distract attention from the product in the center and the pose on the bottom looks like a finger.

I particularly appreciate the credit-based pricing model adopted by this AI art generator. You know that every generation will cost you 5 credits, making it easy to pick a plan tailored to your exact needs.
Despite claiming to have the best context-aware technology in the industry, I wasn’t very impressed with the generation results. The service added a completely different plant to my photo and also placed another jar of cream in the corner, much larger than my main object. All of this distracts potential buyers from the central product I'm advertising in my photo.

Verdict: Probably the best part of this AI photo editor is the premade presets. Whether I need to extend a photo to fit Instagram, YouTube, or another service, I can instantly apply one of the available aspect ratio templates to get the desired result without compromising the picture quality.
While extremely convenient for adjusting sizes for various platforms, the generation quality still leaves something to be desired. This app to resize photos added unclear, unrecognizable objects, and couldn't even accurately draw the stand for my product.

Verdict: Whenever I'm resizing photos for social media posts or framing digital artwork, this AI photo resizer does its job perfectly thanks to preset aspect ratios. This helps me ensure the final image has the optimal dimensions for specific social media platforms, be it Instagram, Facebook, or regular websites.
Testing different photos, I got results of varying quality - from acceptable to downright funny. The reference picture disappointed me by adding numerous unrecognizable objects. However, the convenience of choosing sizes is still a big advantage.
So, if you have better luck with the results than I did, you'll probably appreciate the user-friendly interface of the program.
