As a retoucher at FixThePhoto, I’ve been using Adobe Premiere Pro since 2019 when they reliazed this update. Before that, I worked in older versions, but they frequently had problems like slow performance, lag with 4K video, and fewer options for color grading with Lumetri. The timeline could also be unresponsive, particularly when working on detailed projects with lots of effects.
When I worked on the updated Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019, I saw significant improvements. The software was more stable, playback ran smoother, and rendering times were much quicker. The upgraded Lumetri Color tools provided greater precision for color correction and grading. Additionally, the Freeform View in the Project panel helped me organize clips visually, which streamlined my workflow and boosted efficiency.

My coworker Kate really liked the new Auto Ducking tool in the Essential Sound panel. It automatically lowers the volume of background music when there’s dialogue, making audio mixing quicker. She also enjoyed the performance upgrades in Adobe Premiere Pro, which made working on big projects smoother.

Advantages

✔️ Pro-level editing options. Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 has a vast selection of editing options for producing eye-grabbing videos. I can enhance my video content with color correction features, transitions, and text overlays to make projects more visually appealing. The greatest thing is that all these features are offered by one video editing software for Windows and Mac.
✔️ Adjustable UI. The ability to customize my workspace to match my specific editing needs and style is invaluable. The tool allows for rearranging panels, concealing unnecessary features, and saving custom settings for various projects. This makes my workflow more flexible and boosts my productivity considerably. It seamlessly integrates with Adobe Premiere Elements and allows customizing all the integrations within a single user interface.
✔️ Integrated VFX functionality. Premiere Pro CC 2019 comes equipped with advanced VFX tools for creating eye-grabbing visual effects right in the program. These tools are intuitive, so I could experiment and create fantastic effects for my projects. In addition, I can install LUTs in Premiere to make my clips even more original in just a few clicks.

✔️ Excellent output options with CC 2019. Premiere Pro offers a variety of export options, enabling me to adjust video resolution, bitrate, codecs, and formats to suit platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, and broadcast TV. The presets in Adobe Media Encoder streamline the exporting process, and I can handle multiple projects simultaneously through batch processing.

Disadvantages

High subscription price. Unlike editing software that you buy once, Adobe Premiere Pro operates on a monthly subscription model. Buying Adobe Premiere can really hit the pocket, especially for freelancers or small studios.
Complicated to use and learn. Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 is an optimal solution for pros, as novice users will definitely struggle to figure out how to process videos in this powerful tool with success. I remember how unintuitive Premiere Pro seemed to me when I was a newcomer. Its extensive functionality may confuse the users with little experience. Such a steep learning curve is a drawback for those who have tight deadlines and need to access all the required options as quickly as possible.

What Needs Improvement in Premiere Pro 2019

Although Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 is powerful, I think certain areas could be improved.

  • Despite having a high-performance setup, I’ve encountered regular crashes, sluggish playback, and delays, particularly when handling high-res videos or applying numerous effects. Premiere Pro 2019 often struggles to optimize system resources effectively.
  • Although the media browser is handy, dealing with missing files can be tricky. I’d prefer a more straightforward and efficient method to locate and handle missing media, particularly for large projects spread across multiple drives.
  • The interface is highly customizable, but it could still use some upgrades. There could be more options to adjust workspaces, easier access to key tools, and a simpler way to tweak clip effects without having to open extra panels all the time.

Free Alternatives

If the full version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 is beyond your budget, you can try the 7-day free trial or check out several free Adobe Premiere alternatives.

If you are thinking of canceling your Premiere Pro subscription, you can do so directly in your Adobe account settings. Just remember to cancel before the trial period is over to avoid being charged.

Both Filmora vs Adobe Premiere provide a variety of editing tools, such as cutting, trimming, transitions, effects, multi-track editing, keyframe adjustments, and color correction. It’s a simpler, more beginner-friendly option, perfect for casual creators.

On the other hand, Adobe Premiere is a more advanced, professional tool with features like high-quality color grading and precise audio control. While Filmora is not demanding system resources and offers a completely free plan, Premiere caters to those needing more sophisticated editing capabilities.

OpenShot and Premiere both have video editing tools, but they target different audiences. OpenShot is a free, open-source option with basic features such as trimming, transitions, and effects, though it lacks the advanced capabilities of Premiere. The Adobe product is designed for professional, high-quality editing with greater complexity and customization. OpenShot, on the other hand, is better for quick, simple edits and doesn’t require any payment.

When comparing Kdenlive vs Adobe Premiere Pro, I found out that both tools offer multi-track editing, a variety of transitions, and effects. Kdenlive has a more straightforward interface that, while functional and customizable, can feel less refined compared to Premiere Pro. In contrast, Premiere Pro boasts a sleek, pro-level UI designed for advanced users and large-scale projects. While Kdenlive delivers a solid range of features, it sometimes struggles with performance optimization and doesn’t quite match the advanced tools and precision offered by Premiere Pro CC 2019.

DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro comparison shows that both programs provide multi-track editing, color grading tools, and support for high-resolution videos, making them great for professional work. DaVinci Resolve is especially known for its top-notch color grading, which is considered the best in the industry. It also has a free version with plenty of features. On the other hand, Adobe Premiere Pro works well for team projects and integrates smoothly with other Adobe apps.

Both Final Cut Pro vs Adobe Premiere provide multi-track editing, a range of effects, and support for high-resolution videos. Both tools support a wide range of video, audio, and image formats. Final Cut Pro performs exceptionally well on Mac, thanks to its easy-to-use magnetic timeline and efficient management of large projects. You only need to pay $299.99 once or enjoy a 90-day free trial. Meanwhile, Premiere Pro is the better option for users who need cross-platform flexibility.
