Smart Previews

These fellows in Adobe Lightroom 5 revolutionized food photography for me. In fact, it makes me able to edit pics even if I don't have the original source files at hand —pretty handy if you're on the go and want to apply some kind of a custom look for Insta stories or quick ads. I adjust exposure, color, and so on, and when the originals are reconnected, all of my edits magically are applied - magic. This saves me a ton of time and lets me pick up right where I left off with my photos, no matter where I am.

Improved file management

Lightroom photo editing software is incredibly useful for managing my extensive photo library with its organization tools. The Digital Asset Management system makes it a breeze to locate specific images using keywords or metadata, ensuring quick access to what I need. I can easily rate and flag my photos to distinguish my top shots from the rest. Moreover, it offers the option to stack similar images, reducing clutter and making organization much simpler.

Powerful processing tools

This photo editing app offers powerful editing tools that cover everything from exposure and color balance to sharpening details and noise reduction. The non-destructive editing feature is a real game-changer because it allows me to experiment with various edits without worrying about ruining the original image. It's all about the freedom to explore creative possibilities.

Ability to use with other apps

As a photographer who uses multiple Adobe apps, the seamless integration between Lightroom 5 and other Creative Cloud apps has been a huge advantage.

I can easily transfer my photos from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop for more advanced editing techniques, such as compositing or retouching. This is for sure the best integration that saves me a bunch of time and helps me arrange my workflow in a proper way to make editing smooth and efficient.

Cannot compete with Adobe Photoshop

Based on my experience, I can say that Lightroom 5 is pretty much what I need when it comes to advanced capabilities in food editing images. For instance, when I need to make very specified changes to only some parts of an image such as highlights where I only want to brighten them or saturate colors in a certain area, Lightroom 5 wasn’t very helpful. In such cases, I had to switch to Photoshop to have that level of control.

Not very beginner-friendly

I found the Lightroom 5 version somewhat complex and overwhelming, even if it’s an old version of the software. It would be helpful to have an easier way to navigate through all the tools and features, as they're not always straightforward to find. Besides, I experienced issues with Lightroom being resource-intensive, which occasionally led to computer crashes and freezes. This was frustrating and significantly slowed down my workflow, particularly when dealing with a large number of images for my customers.
