As an animator, I utilize Adobe Animate CS6 (previously known as Adobe Flash) to produce professional-level 2D animations for web banners and interactive website animations. I prefer this program to the recently released versions as it is less taxing on my computer’s resources.
Besides, I can use it as a standalone software without a Creative Cloud subscription. Due to this, I can work on my projects without mastering the complex functionality of upgraded software.
Adobe Animate CS6 has an intuitive UI and supports timeline editing. It makes it easier for me to manage animation frames.
Another advantage of this animation software is that it has an Autosave option, which allows me to save my progress and files automatically and protect my data during sudden crashes. Besides, I like that it supports ActionScript 3.0, which enables me to make my projects more interactive.

Interactive capabilities with ActionScript
Versatile animation tool
Adobe Animate CS6 comes with a variety of 2D vector animation tools. It allows me to create professional frame-by-frame animations, motion tweens, and shape tweens. The program supports an impressive level of detail, making it an excellent animation software for anime suitable for basic and advanced tasks.
Sprite Sheets and AIR integration
I like the fact that I can create sprite sheets quickly. The program supports integration with AIR, which allows me to generate custom language codes and use extensions, which optimizes my workflow significantly. This option will come in handy for those who want to create interactive animations for websites and create modules for online classes.
Large user community and helpful resources
Even though this version is outdated, Animate CS6 has an impressive user base, so you can find plenty of Adobe Animate tutorials, forums, and resources. It helped me to find answers to the questions I was interested in and hone my skills with community support.
Steep learning curve
Even though I have been working as an animator for years, it’s still challenging for me to fully master all the features available in Adobe Animate CS6.
It’s difficult to figure out how to use its tools, as there are so many of them. It makes this software hardly suitable for beginners. Besides, ActionScript is not intuitive enough. Due to this, I had to spend some time to learn how to make the most out of this software.
Outdated UI in CS6 version
The interface of Adobe Animate CS6 is a bit outdated and convoluted, compared to Adobe Animate alternatives. As I prioritize workflow optimization, I do not like the fact that this software is difficult to navigate. It prevents me from finding the right tools without wasting a lot of time. Due to this, I often get frustrated and cannot complete my projects on time.
