Meredith Images a great resource for e-books, webinars, and trainings for novice and seasoned photographers.
Hazel Meredith is a prolific photographer, teacher, workshop leader, speaker, and competition judge. In 2007, she embarked on the teaching path, sharing her knowledge of photo processing through local adult education programs. She also travels across the U.S and delivers seminars at camera clubs and conferences, and also participates in online meetings and organizes her own workshops.
You can find her personal webinars linked from her Meredith Images website, which contain a variety of post-processing techniques described in a comprehensive manner. She has also presented webinars for Topaz Labs software and Design Cuts. Hazel has written two e-books to help photographers learn more about working with textures and applying them to their images. Her first eBook entitled “Working with Textures & Overlays: Turn Ho-Hum into a Work of Art” was released in 2015. In 2017 she released the sequel, and now Hazel is working on her third book.
Hazel is totally in love with the creative side of photography and editing in particular. She believes combining various textures and overlays is like real magic, which brings fantastic results. She is willing to share her knowledge with colleagues through her seminars and workshops.
In 2017, Hazel and her husband, Dave, founded the “Creative Photography Conference”. They had 3 successful live events and then switched to the online format, organizing Virtual Conferences. The fourth Virtual Creative Photography Conference is scheduled for June 25-26, 2022.
Hazel Meredith is an active member of the photographic community and is frequently perceived as a leader by reputable organizations. She has received several honorary awards and was the recipient of the Ashbrook Award for Digital Imaging Instruction from the Photographic Society of America in 2020. She believes camera clubs are wonderful places to find like-minded people to share your passion and expand your learning.
In addition to a plethora of materials available on the Meredith Images website, you can learn valuable tips by meeting Hazel in person. She holds Barns & Back Roads workshops in Northeast Tennessee for small groups (max 3 people). You will take photos in new picturesque locations with old barns, buildings, and back roads, then spend some time processing your images.
Creating her workshops, Hazel strives to provide students with as much info as possible and will provide assistance with camera settings and the best angles at each location.
If you are not able to travel for a workshop, you can choose personal training via Zoom. Hazel will prepare a lesson based on your needs and expertise. For instance, you can inform her that you need a lesson about Photoshop CC or Photoshop Elements, Textures, Topaz, Skylum Luminar, Layers and Masking, etc. One lesson usually lasts 1- 1.5 hours and you will receive “homework” to practice before the next session.
In January, 2022, Hazel released her first online course, “Creating Your Own Textures & Brushes”. She reveals her secrets of how to create textures and modify them, what styles to choose for work, and more. She shows the working process in Photoshop CC, but you can use the same techniques in PS Elements, Affinity Photo, OnOne, or actually any software with layer support.
She also demonstrates how to use such plugins as Topaz, Nik, and Smart Photo Editor to create and modify your textures. If you frequently improve your shots on the go, using a smart phone or an iPad, you will find great recommendations here as well.
The course contains tutorials on how to photograph different objects to create textures and how to fine-tune them. I like that in addition to video content, you have access to written instructions on each topic. It is possible to download videos and notes for lifetime use.
As mentioned above, Hazel and Dave are organizing the 4th Virtual Creative Photography Conference on June 25-26, 2022. There will be 8 speakers presenting 13 topics over the two days. You will be able to watch the recordings for 60 days after the event.
The list of speakers includes Cheryl Belczak, Bob Coates, Jamie Konarski Davidson, Diana Day, Anita Hubbard, Sherri Reed, Dave Meredith, and Hazel Meredith. The regular price is $49, and the early-bird pricing is $39.
Hazel Meredith knows how difficult it can be to find a reliable and relevant source of info. She blogs three times a week. On Sundays she posts the “Sunday Sampler” and gives away free textures; on Tuesdays she shares items from “Around the Web” which include tutorials and freebies; and on Thursdays she shares “Thursday Thoughts”, a potpourri of ideas, tutorials and resources. She also includes information on upcoming webinars, seminars, workshops and new product releases.
Visiting the Meredith Images Insta page, you can learn about upcoming webinars and virtual conferences, find new textures for sale, as well as get inspired by photos from workshops. Every picture comes with a description. The first photos were posted in 2015, so now the collection is very large.
