As I started my retirement journey across the United States, taking photos for my little blog, I needed a good way to organize all my pictures. That's when I found Apple Photos, which used to be called iPhoto 11. You can easily download iPhoto 11 to organize your photos too. It's perfect for my traveling photographer lifestyle.
Among the most attractive things to me in this software’s version is how easily I can use it in all my gadgets because while travelling I take photos on my, my wife’s and other friends’ phone, tablet and a camera. It is great photo management software for this purpose, since I can manage photos from anywhere, even in places where I couldn't post them straight away. Smart sorting helps me search, increasing its usefulness during my trips and saving many pictures.

Improved organization
I can organize all my pictures well by location taken, events, or any particular theme I’ve created through the album and smart album features the 11th version of Apple Photos offers. In this way, I can find the exact photo I need in my big collection easily, especially when I write a blog post about a specific place for my followers. Apple Photos is a great iPhoto alternative for me too. I like Full-Screen Mode because it helps me to focus on my photos, and the tools, making it easy to edit and organize my pictures.
Date and time correction
The time-shifting feature in Apple Photos is really helpful, especially when I forget to set the right date and time on my camera while traveling. This happened to me recently because I usually take photos with my iPhone. I had a lot of pictures of the Teton Range mountains, and it was hard to know when each one was taken without the correct timestamps. Apple Photos, as a photo catalog software, helps me keep all my memories organized and in the right order.
Identify people in photos
The face detection feature in Apple Photos is just awesome. It works just like in Lightroom but for free. It finds faces in my photos and groups them such that I easily find pictures of my friends and relatives without wasting hours on culling.
It really saves me a lot of time if I want to look at memories of trips with certain people. Furthermore, I like it for the reason that iCloud synchronizes everything for me to access on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook without moving the photos manually.
Basic photo & video correction in several clicks
The editing tools in Apple Photos are impressive as they help me quickly improve my photos wherever I am. Whether I need to change the lighting, crop a photo, or fix a blemish, these tools make it easy to make my pictures look better before I share them on my blog. Also, putting different media files into separate folders helps me keep my photos, videos, and screenshots organized.
Slowness and bugs
Apple Photos can be really slow, especially when you have a lot of photos. It takes a long time for each photo to show up, which can be annoying when you just want to find a photo quickly. Also, I've had a lot of problems with the app, like photos not loading right or the app crashing. These technical issues can be annoying, especially when you're trying to edit or share your photos while you're on the go.
Some app’s limitations
I miss star ratings for my favorite photos, hence going some way to prevent from showing off my entire collection of photos. The app also feels so cluttered sometimes, making it hard to get to the photos or albums that I want. If you have a lot of photos, it just gives you a headache trying to locate the one you are looking for in all that mess – you’d better just delete them after a big photoshoot trip like I do.
