I am professionally engaged in graphic design with a focus on printed designs, so I can’t imagine my work without Canva for iPad. Thanks to this feature-rich program, I can create and visualize designs for multiple printed materials.
The most popular projects are designs for mugs, cards, and clothes. The best part is that such handy tools are available no matter whether you use Canva photo editor for Windows, Mac, or its mobile version. The interface is very intuitive, while the collection of templates is mind-blowing. Thus, prototyping ideas and sharing the results is very easy.
When studying different Canva alternatives, I was amazed by how lightweight yet functional it is. Thanks to touchscreen controls, it is very convenient to design different items. Moreover, Canva app for iPad comes with many powerful tools, which allow handling different tasks faster. For instance, I was able to sketch concepts with the Apple Pencil and finalize designs in a matter of minutes.

Broad template library
Many claim Canva is the best free graphic design software.
Considering how many ready-to-use templates it has. Using them, you can produce specific designs much faster. Moreover, the customization here is amazing.
I can tweak my designs in accordance with clients’ unique demands. For instance, it is possible to change colors, add text, develop bespoke prints, and more.
Branding features
You are sure to admire branding capabilities of Canva. For example, I can upload clients’ raw materials and apply some tweaks, without distorting their recognizable characteristics. Such functionalities came in handy when I cooperated with the cosmetics store. They had a logo and font, and asked me to use these elements in design materials. I could easily meet their needs in the Canva iOS version.
Besides, thanks to the drag & drop functionality, rearranging elements was a breeze.
Lots of assets
Canva offers multiple photos, designs, graphics, and fonts. Therefore, I can jazz up my prints and make my designs unique. Besides, I can create charts and graphs. This is particularly important for large-scale companies and non-profit organizations. In general, I like that I can visualize data clearly and professionally to share ideas and values with a target audience.
Intuitive workflow
The interface of the app is very understandable. Therefore, I don’t need to spend much time mastering the functionality, but can concentrate on my creative vision and possible ways to realize my ideas. I also like that Canva for iPad Pro and other mobile platforms works smoothly. This is a huge advantage for people accustomed to working on the go.
No backup options
I always back up my design files. Thus, I can be sure my work is safe and easy to access. But if you use Canva for iPad, you can’t download your designs in the usual format or save them offline. I am rather worried about this limitation because I can’t be 100% sure my projects are safe when I’m using the application.
Few output formats
To show my designs to clients, I often need to export them in different formats. However, Canva for iPad only lets me save them as PNG, JPG, or PDF. This is a very disappointing limitation, especially when working with large projects.
