Communication in Discord is one of your favorite activities and you are wondering how to get unbanned from Discord? You enjoy constant lively discussions and arguments. But one day you try to log in to your favorite Discord server and find that you have been banned. Bans from Discord servers can occur for a number of reasons.
There are ways to bypass the Discord ban:
Discord is a free cross-platform application for voiceover via IP, developed as an alternative to Skype and TeamSpeak, which, according to the founders of Discord, were too resource-intensive and had many known security flaws. Discord lets users communicate via audio and video, as well as exchange text messages and pictures.
Discord is primarily aimed at gamers: the most popular servers are designed for players of Clash Royale, Fortnite, Minecraft, PUBG, Rainbow 6 Siege, Spell.
Since its creation, Discord has become a platform for gamers to communicate while gaming and has expanded to other groups, such as YouTube users, meme-generators, influencers and others. Although the service started as a replacement for a voice chat, many began using it as a means of communicating with like-minded people via voice changers for Discord.
Registration is required and confirmed users can set up their own chat servers, inviting friends to join the server to chat on topics of interest. As with any social media platform, you also have a chance to get banned if you didn’t follow the rules for using the Discord servers, or if you spread negativity or chaos inside the channel.
The first type is a server ban, which means that the administrator has denied you access to a separate chat server. When this happens, you will no longer be able to log in to that particular server. But you will still be able to connect to other servers.
The second type is a system-wide ban from Discord. It means that you can’t connect to any of the Discord servers because the server tracks its users in two ways: by username and by IP address.
The IP address is used by the network to identify the connected device. This lets the network determine where information is coming from and where it should be sent. Even if you change your username and try to log in to the server, you will be banned because the system recognizes your IP address. This prevents you from creating a new account on the same computer because the address remains marked and the server blocks the connection.
When you are denied access to the server while using the Discord desktop client, then the ID of the account you are logged in with and your IP address is what the Discord server uses to identify you as the target of the block.
You can’t just create a new account on the same computer – the IP address is still marked and the server will immediately block your attempts to proceed. If you have a mobile device with a data plan, you can use it in the step-by-step guide on how to get unbanned from Discord server.
STEP 1. Turn off Wi-Fi on the mobile device and turn on mobile data.
STEP 2. Launch the Discord mobile app on the smartphone. Create a new account with a new email address.
STEP 3. Log in to Discord with a new account and join the server where you were banned. Log out of Discord and disable mobile data.
STEP 4. Log in to Discord again on the desktop using a new account that should be allowed to access the server. The IP filter is applied to new people who join the server, not to those who use it.
Similarly, you can switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi if your primary data source is cellular. Then after creating a new account, you can continue and use your mobile data again.
When a user connects to the server, the VPN temporarily assigns a new IP address to the user’s device, as if the user is connecting from another location or device. The new IP address will let you register on Discord with a new username, giving you access to blocked servers. Create a different username: human administrators monitor new users and ban servers.
After installing the VPN, you need to clear the cached information about your Discord account. Whether you were blocked in a separate chat or in the entire Discord system, you can restore access by getting a new IP address and creating a new username.
STEP 1. Close and delete the Discord desktop client.
STEP 2. For Mac: delete the following folders: Library> Application Support> Discord и Applications> Discord.
STEP 2. For Win: Navigate to the AppData folder located on the C: system drive in the Users> [username] folder where your user’s folder was created. You may need to enable the display of hidden items to make the folder visible (open the “View” tab at the top of the window and tick the “Hidden items” checkbox). Now you should delete the root folder from AppData> Local> Discord.
STEP 3. To be on the safe side, clean the recycle bin, restart the PC and reinstall the Discord application.
STEP 4. Activate the VPN and connect to its server to get a new IP address.
STEP 5. Launch the Discord client and create a new account using the new email address. Log in to Discord with a new account and join the server where you were banned. After creating a new account, you can disconnect from the VPN if you want.
You can contact the service, indicate your data and problem by navigating to the Discord’s “Submit a request” page. There you should select the “Appeal an action Trust and Safety took on my account” option in the “Report Type” section and specify your problem. If you didn’t violate anything or don’t know the reason, you can contact the team. In case you don’t meet the Discord Terms of Service, the Trust and Safety team won’t reconsider their decision (only if you didn’t do what is indicated in your ban).
If you are banned from a particular server, contact the server owner, administrator or authorized employee who banned you via DM (private messages). Explain that you didn’t do what you are accused of (if you actually didn’t). In case you did something that you were banned for, it means that you violated the rules and you won’t be unblocked (at least on a well-managed server).
If it isn’t the server owner who issued a false ban, you may be punished for abuse by the administrator/moderator. File an appeal against a server employee with a higher rank than the one who blocked it. Politely provide legal evidence, indicating that you were wrongfully banned, and wait for the decision.
Users can be banned by server administrators or the Discord service for several reasons:
Raiding is technically against Discord’s terms of service when a user posts a large amount of NSFW (unsafe to work with) content in an SFW (secure) channel. This creates discomfort for the users on the server. Raiders can be blocked and put in the blacklists of other servers as a precautionary measure.
If you have raided the server, the server users will object to you being unblocked and can report you to Discord staff, warn other servers about your raid on the server. In this case, you shouldn’t return to this server and may even be excluded from Discord.
Employees know the reasons why you were banned from Discord server. You may not see these reasons for yourself. But you are sure that you were falsely blocked: when the owner/administrator/mod of the server abuses its authority to ban someone whom they don’t like it.
If you want to be unblocked on the Discord server, join via your alternate account the DM of the moderator or server administrator to file a Discord ban appeal (write it as an email). If your appeal is rejected, you can do nothing but stay with your alternate account or join another Discord server.
