What are the best cheap laptops for World of Warcraft?
When searching for the best laptop for World of Warcraft, begin with deciding on the sum of money you can invest in it. The next step is to check whether the device meets the suggested system requirements. Mind that I made emphasis on the suggested requirements, not the minimum ones.
If the laptop meets just the minimum requirements, you will be able to play well only at the lowest graphic settings values. If the suggested requirements are met, you can smoothly run the World of Warcraft with good or even the highest graphical settings and sufficient frame rate.
Once you try playing the World of Warcraft, it will be hard to stop and you are bound to become addicted to it. That’s why you definitely need the best laptop for World of Warcraft to have all the required power to experience amazing graphics in all their glory and ensure a problem-free gaming process.
In my review, I have collected the top 6 laptops for you to fully immerse yourself in the world of this stunning game.
CPU: Intel Core i7-10875H | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q | RAM: 16GB | Storage: 1000GB | Display: 15-inch | Weight: 4.6 pound
Razer Blade 15 takes after the previous version with its elegant design and offers improved Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics. It isn’t exactly the cheapest laptop to play WoW, but the price is certainly worth it – you get a top-grade design and remarkable GPU.
However, you may experience problems related to overheating and noise. Mind that these problems are common for many thin and portable laptops. In fact, you can turn a blind eye to all this for the exceptional power and speed of Razer Blade 15.
CPU: Intel Core i7-10750H | GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Super | RAM: 32GB | Storage: 1000GB | Display: 15-inch | Weight: 4.3 pound
In comparison with its predecessor, Alienware’s m15 R2 ($2,659) boasts a more extensive feature-set, a more interesting-looking and extraordinary design, as well as an impressive 4K OLED display. The majority of Alienware laptops are quite bulky while this one is on the more portable side.
It was redesigned both on the outside and on the inside. An Nvidia GeForce GTX 2070 Max-Q GPU delivers 60fps gaming at different resolutions and settings, making the Alienware m15 R2 one of the best laptops that can run WoW.
CPU: Intel Core i7 | GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 | RAM: 16GB | Storage: 1000GB | Display: 15-inch | Weight: 4.97 pound
Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is a top-notch laptop to play WoW for its price ($1,449). It is incredibly performant and can handle anything you will throw at it, including demanding games.
This 14-inch laptop is notable for Nvidia’s Max-Q initiative, as well as a smart and thin design. The model sets a new standard for robust gaming laptops that will be hard to outrun.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H | GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 | RAM: 16GB | Storage: 1000GB | Display: 15-inch | Weight: 5.1 pound
Asus TUF Gaming A15 is an excellent inexpensive gaming laptop for WoW. It pleases us with wonderful Full HD performance, nice display and sufficient storage. However, the design looks awful and its loud fans are bothering me a lot. If all these disadvantages don’t scare you off, it is a good offer for such an affordable price.
The Asus TUF Gaming A15 is one of the first laptops to integrate the newest Ryzen 4000 processors. Its CPU efficiency and decent battery life undoubtedly make it stand out among the rest of the models on the market.
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: Nvidia RTX2060 | RAM: 8GB | Storage: 512GB | Display: 15.6-inch | Weight: 4.1 pound
MSI GS65 Stealth Thin integrates Nvidia's Max-Q technology and delivers long battery life. It is an awesome HD laptop for WoW with its eighth-generation Intel ""Coffee Lake"" processor. The design is lightweight and slim while the build quality leaves much to be desired, especially compared to similar models.
Its Max-Q system is the cheapest I have encountered, which is certainly an advantage. Still, the more expensive Origin PC EVO15-S wins over with better build quality, almost identical gaming efficiency, as well as overwhelming storage capacity.
CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H | GPU: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti | RAM: 16GB | Storage: 512GB | Display: 15-inch | Weight: 5.1 pound
Acer Predator Helios 300 is the best laptop for World of Warcraft if you have approximately $1,000 to invest in it. For such a price, its hardware capabilities are outstanding, providing the combination of the Intel Core i7-7700HQ and a GTX 1060 6GB. You can expect 1080p gaming without having to spend a fortune on it.
The Helios 300 is undeniably the best offer in its price category. In terms of characteristics, it stands closer to the models costing $2,000 (with its price of $1,000). Even though some wouldn’t call this laptop a budget one, it is a perfect option for those who are willing to invest a bit more, but not too much.

Similar to the majority of games, WoW is highly dependent on the CPU, which is the processor’s clock speed. What makes WoW stand out is that it depends more on the CPU than the GPU (video card). That’s why you should pay attention to decent CPU first, and only then check out the GPU/RAM specs of a laptop. This whole thing isn’t even surprising – WoW was created at the beginning of the 2000s. At that time, there were no cool video cards used while writing the game’s engine, so keep it in mind. Besides, it is unlikely that any changes will be made to the code and the entire game engine in the nearest future.
Intel Series
Opt for Intel Core i3 or Core i5 and ensure that it is from the 7th generation and beyond. The first number indicates the generation. For instance, an i5-6200 is from the 6th generation. With older generations, the laptop may overheat faster and will feature an out-of-date integrated graphics card that may cause issues while you are playing. Even though 10-20 fps may seem fine, raiding as a healer while following game mechanics will be the hell of a process. Such FPS values will work well only if you need to login, chat and check the AH (2008-2010 systems). For more demanding tasks, stick to higher FPS values.
AMD Series
The situation with AMD processors is different. Ryzen processors, the most recent ones, aren’t really similar to that from older generations or any of the Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processors. As for the number of cores, this parameter isn’t so relevant since WoW belongs to the list of single-threaded games using just one core. In case you invest in a processor with a larger number of cores, the speed of the gaming process won’t increase. Moreover, it may cause issues if the laptop has lower clock speeds than a lower core processor. At the same time, processors with more cores (particularly on laptops) feature greater clock frequency.
So, check twice the amount of increased “clock frequency” you will have in comparison with other processors. This way, you will figure out whether you should pay extra money for that or not.
WoW is capable of running on dated hardware, which will perfectly do for those who are okay with playing at the lowest settings. Those who wish to play at the highest or even medium settings (and get 60+ fps at orgrimmar/stormwind) should pick a dedicated graphics card.
Integrated Intel/AMD
It is possible to run WoW on an integrated GPU. But you will have to compromise on the settings, lower the resolution just to achieve 30fps, which is fine unless there are clusters of over 20 players surrounding you. To ensure a nice integrated GPU that will uninterruptedly grant you 30+ fps at low settings, opt for any inexpensive modern generation processor. It guarantees an up-to-date integrated GPU. Speaking of CPU, it is recommended to have Radeon Vega X graphics (3,5,7) or 6th generation Intel HD cards (Intel HD 620, Intel UHD 620, etc.).
Medium to High Settings
To be able to play at medium to high settings and achieve 60+ fps, a dedicated GPU is a must. I suggest that you pay attention to a 9th or 10th generation NVIDIA GPU or any of the AMD GPUs. The only exception is the AMD 610 that is dedicated but operates like an integrated GPU.
Green GPUs: These are pretty basic gaming GPUs, like the MX250 and Radeon 555RX (present only in MacBook Pros). Using them, you can count on 40+ fps at medium settings (Ogrimmar), questing approximately 60fps.
Blue CPUs: Radeon RX 540 and basic 10th generation GPUs: 1050, 1650 can offer 80-100fps at the highest settings (Questing). Mind that you will need a purple CPU in this case.
Purple GPUs: With the NVIDIA 1660Ti, 2060RTX and the Radeon RX580, you can count on anything from 100-130FPS questing and at the highest settings.
Playing WoW, it is practically impossible for the GPU to “bottleneck” since it is “not strong enough” for the CPU. It happens due to the fact that the game is largely dependent on CPU and hardly on GPU. The more likely case is a “CPU bottleneck” – when the CPU isn’t strong enough or when you stick with more robust GPUs and don’t achieve higher framerates as a result. I know people who kept getting the same framerates although they were using a 1660Ti,1060 and RX2060 for the benchmarks and were using the identical CPU. If they were to upgrade the CPU, they would have higher framerates. The 2060RTX would win over the 1660Ti, and not the other way around, as it happened in our case.
Practically all gaming laptops provide at least 8GB of RAM. But if you are purchasing a laptop that costs less than $500, it is unlikely to have 8GB of RAM. In most cases, you can count on a maximum of 4GB.
Size.
Previous WoW versions worked smoothly with 4GB since the game used to occupy less than 2GB. Now it occupies a bit over 2GB. Still, with the amount of RAM being closer to 4GB, you are risking the ability to run multiple processes at once, like browsing the web or chatting via Discord. Windows itself occupies 2GB so over 4GB is required. To achieve 8GB, you need two 4GB Sticks. In case the laptop is inexpensive and features 4GB, it is possible to upgrade it later to boost efficiency. As for me, I have 16GB.
Dual Channeled
In case the RAM is dual channeled, you can expect improved efficiency. Essentially, it implies installing two sticks of the same size, same type and same model for RAM.
It is possible to purchase a nice laptop for playing WoW that costs less than $400. The cheapest i3 models are sold at $300 and higher. In case you wish to play the game on high(est) settings, pay attention to top-grade CPUs: i7-4720HQ, i5-7300HQ, i7-6700HQ, i5-8300H, i7-8750H.
The majority of gaming laptops will handle WoW just well. But I suggest that you opt for a laptop with a better screen. Also, you may consider a Windows laptop for an optimal gaming process â you will find one at a price no more than $1200.
Officially, WoW requires the minimum amount of RAM to be 2GB. But at least 4GB is recommended. Mind that the developers require 4GB as the minimum for Battle for Azeroth.
Yes. The best characteristics for a decent laptop to play WoW are an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card and 16 GB of RAM.
