SketchUp 2017 Make
By Trimble Inc. * free * ★★★★☆ (4/5) * Last updated on September, 2020
As I am currently doing an architecture course in college, I would mostly need the version SketchUp Make 2017 when working on my designs, since it has pretty, not tough 3D modeling tools. I honestly don’t need to install heavy and quite expensive programs because I don’t have a good PC and extra money for this.
They allow me to work on all of my projects at school. Using this software, I can create visualizations of buildings, detailed floor plans, and landscape designs.
However, what really catches the eye in this version of the program is a more sleek UI. To be honest, I found it a pleasure to work with my first projects since the tools needed were relatively easy to find and very usable, being actually intuitive.
Even such users as I, who never had to deal with 3D modeling before, can use this program; it will take approximately two days of your life, and that's all. SketchUp Make 2017 can be easily installed and operated on any PC which is great for a fast start.

Super-easy to master
SketchUp Make 2017 has a well-thought-out interface, which makes it easy for me to find everything that I need. As I study architectural design, I enjoy using its tools for creating 3D visualizations of buildings and floor plans. Besides, I can configure the interface so that I always have the tools that I need at hand.
Free for students
Students who do not have a lot of money to spend can follow a SketchUp Make 2017 free download link and install this program’s version which I highly recommend as a start. It is a great option to consider for those who are on a tight budget. You don’t need paid versions, using this software, you can master new techniques and improve your skills without getting broke.
Rendering tools
It has a strong rendering engine and can support many plugins, which assist me in the production of pro-level visualizations. I receive many of free plug-ins at school and access to the best free rendering software for SketchUp and it helps to increase the quality of the rendering outcomes and go further by building advanced projects.
Helpful community
You may even do not have such an experience, but the tutorials posted by the company on their official YouTube surely help in mastering the new experience and techniques. I also take analyses of other projects presented in the 3D Warehouse and inspire myself from them.
Supports a limited number of formats
When using SketchUp Make 2017, I noticed that it does not support many formats, which makes it more difficult for me to work together with my classmates on the same projects. For instance, when I need to import AutoCAD or Revit files, I first need to convert them into one of the supported formats.
Limited integrations
These days, many SketchUp alternatives with project management support integration with cloud platforms and streamlined collaboration. However, this program has limited functionality, which does not allow me to use it together with my peers and access my project files from different devices.
