I am a designer who creates intricate patterns for future printing on fabric, so I decided to involve Paint Tool SAI for Mac in my workflow to make it more productive. It offers everything I need and the first thing that amazed me was its intuitive brush engine, which makes the digital images look like being painted with different techniques.
As a fabric pattern designer, I highly appreciate the ability to create and manipulate textures seamlessly. With this feature, it is possible to blend and repeat elements within my designs in 2 clicks, making sure that the pattern layout is flawless and cohesive.
In addition, the software brags about the advanced management tools for organizing complex design elements while keeping overall control over each layer’s property without lags or unexpected freezes.

Responsive brush engine
The responsive brush engine in Paint Tool SAI lets me generate smooth and realistic strokes for crafting original fabric designs. The ability to set brushes according to my requirements is another considerable plus.
Thanks to this amazing option, I can personalize my drawing experience and enjoy the flexibility to create unique patterns for fabric printing spruced up with original effects.
Variety of features
Paint Tool SAI 2 for Mac has a wonderful set of tools, such as raster drawing tools and linework layers, that allow me to experiment with different patterns for fabric production on my MacBook without delays.
The transformation and image adjustment features are also invaluable for enhancing my designs. For instance, my company received an order for fabric with lifelike flower prints. I had no issues refining the source photo when using it, so highly recommend for newbies.
Low learning curve and user-friendly
The UI of the MacOs version of Paint Tool SAI allows applying different textures. The process is also smooth and pleasant because of touchscreen support and anti-aliased paintings. For me, as a graphic designer, the program’s intuitive toolkit that lowers the learning curve is a game-changer. I needed minimum time to figure out how to use different features and start making original patterns for fabric production.
Portable and convenient
It is a lightweight program, so I could work virtually in any place. Besides, I benefited from the ability to save files in their native SAI format to make sure I could continue designing the fabric patterns hassle-free. The program is easy to navigate and straightforward, meaning that the pattern design process is quick and efficient.
Needs redesign
The program’s interface is a bit outdated if compared to Paint Tool SAI alternatives other digital art tools. This becomes noticeable after using the software for some time. The developers should update the UI to enhance the UX and make the program more visually attractive and user-friendly, adding a touch of creativity to my workflow and making it more efficient.
The Mac version is not fully functional
As a fabric pattern designer who mainly uses a Mac device in the workflow, the fact that Paint Tool SAI does not have a version specifically designed for Mac is very frustrating. I needed to use emulators to make it run on my device, so my workflow was disrupted and less productive.
