FastStone Image Viewer for Mac
By FastStone Corporation * FREE * ★★★★☆ (4/5) * Last updated on September, 2023
FastStone Image Viewer is, truly, one of the most lightweight yet powerfully-designed solutions for all possible graphics projects needs for my MacBook Air M2. In the program, I can comfortably leaf through all my design assets or form a gallery of new project thumbnails in a matter of minutes.
And, of course, when it comes to regular operations like adding text annotations or filtering mockups or clients references, it has all necessary tools. For me, this photo catalog software is a lifesaver when it comes to handling large volumes of work and surprisingly it doen’t crach. The ability to export images in different formats literally within a few clicks really saves a lot of time and effort.

Stable performance at high speed
For the big image files, FastStone definitely turns out to be my right-hand man. Because the operations are fast, the performance is stable, and the reliability index is incredibly high, with it, I can easily and conveniently surf among my enormous collection of design assets without these annoying lags or delays.
Full-featured capabilities
No other software provides a broad suite of actions from viewing to organizing and editing, other than that provided by FastStone. It has all the functionality required, including options for adding annotations or resizing an image to fit the specific dimensions. All this is possible with FastStone with just a few clicks.
Easy organization of my pics
Tools for sorting and tagging images are so intuitive and friendly that working with them is a piece of cake. With FastStone Image Viewer for Mac OS, I keep my design assets organized and on hand, saving my time and sparing energy from being lost in the search for the correct files. It's like a virtual assistant who knows just how I want things organized, so it makes my workflow even more efficient.
Intuitive and customizable features
I can personalize the look of the software or have shortcuts set up at my most-used tools.
In that regard, FastStone would allow me to customize my processes so that every nuance of the creative flow was smooth and unbroken.
Sometimes slow performance
I have also noticed that the software can lag sometimes when I am trying to browse through my design assets, which can be frustrating when I am working on a tight deadline. For instance, when I have a folder with hundreds of images, it takes longer for the software to load all the thumbnails compared to other image-viewing software I have used before.
In addition, not all formats are supported
As I found out, opening an SVG graphics file - and besides many other common formats – can’t be done here. This may well be a big minus when suddenly an urgent task arises to view or edit the graphics in another format, without the possibility of free downloading of another free image converter.
