1. Corsair M65 Elite

Our Choice
mouse under 40 corsair m65

DPI: 18000 | Interface: Wired | Buttons: 8 | Ergonomic: Right-Handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Great build quality
⊕ Amazing performance
⊕ Inexpensive
⊕ Suitable for all hand sizes and grips
⊖ Adjustable weights aren’t very heavy
⊖ Hard cable
⊖ iCue software is controversial

Corsair M65 RGB Elite is a very precise and fast 40$ gaming mouse. Due to its wide DPI range, I managed to set the mouse to a particular level of sensitivity that I needed. By the way, if don’t have several monitors, you probably won’t need the 18.000 DPI max.

One aspect where M65 RGB Elite has got far better is its software. Its modern Corsair Utility Engine is a rich, nuanced, powerful program that gives experienced gamers endless play space.

Also, the company has added many features for beginners that allows them to easily set a color, reprogram a button, and return to the game.

2. SteelSeries Rival 310

Professional
mouse under 40 steelseries

DPI: 12000| Interface: Wired | Buttons: 6 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Light-touch Omron switches
⊕ Good-looking, light, durable crafting
⊕ Acceleration, deceleration, angle snapping support
⊕ Made from fiber-reinforced plastics
⊖ Two DPI settings only
⊖ Lack of lift-distance control

SteelSeries Rival 310 is a powerful 40 dollar gaming mouse. It's well-built and has a nice design and feel. Due to TrueMove 3 sensor and wired connection, it provides seamless performance. It has a new sensor, a very lightweight design and syncable RGB lighting.

The DPI range of Rival 310 is 100-12 000 and even though it’s lower than in other similar mice, it’s more than enough for the majority of users.

However, this mouse has some disadvantages. For example, a bit plastic case and lack of weight adjustment.

3. Logitech G502 HERO

Wireless mouse under $40 for pro gaming
mouse under 40 logitech g502

DPI: 16000 | Interface: Wireless | Buttons: 11 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Perfect sensor
⊕ All the necessary buttons
⊕ You can adjust weights
⊕ Conveniently placed LEDs
⊖ DPI indicators don’t remain lit
⊖ Not the best side grips
⊖ Not suitable for large hands

Logitech G502 Hero is the best mouse under 40 dollars as it feels and looks great. It has a lot of programmable buttons, low click latency and an adjustable CPI range. Even though it’s quite heavy, it has five removable weights so that you can customize the weight for your wish.

However, Hero has a 16.000 DPI optical sensor which is a great improvement to the 12.000 DPI Proteus sensor. As for numbers, it looks very impressive. It also meets new industry standards, so we understand why Logitech released this sensor.

However, 16.000 DPI is very sensitive and we don’t know why someone would want that level of sensitivity.

4. Razer Mamba

Gaming mouse with programmable buttons
mouse under 40 razer mamba

DPI: 16000 | Interface: Wiireless | Buttons: 7 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Battery lasts for 50 hours with RGB off
⊕ Nice rubber side grips
⊕ Excellent sensor
⊕ Good build quality
⊖ Very soft clicks
⊖ You need an account for Razer software

If you have used the previous version of Razer Mamba, then a new model will look and feel familiar to you too. The mouse is quite large — 4.95 x 2.75 x 1.70 inches — and ergonomically designed for right-handed users.

It has textured grips on both sides that is a bit similar to the striations on a jaw of the whale. They are convenient and make sure your hand is where it's supposed to be placed.

This mouse runs on the Razer Synapse 3 software. I used this program for almost a day on my test computer at work, when it spontaneously uninstalled, and I wasn’t able to get it back again. I addressed Razer but they couldn’t help me with this problem.

5. HyperX Pulsefire FPS Pro

Gaming mouse under $40 with 6 buttons
mouse under 40 hyperx

DPI: 16000 | Interface: Wired| Buttons: 6 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Has a braided cable
⊕ Nice RGB lighting options
⊕ Good pointer action
⊕ Nice design
⊖ Large RGB logo is a bit tasteless

HyperX Pulsefire FPS is a nice middle ground mouse. It's convenient, intuitive and has a perfect amount of RGB lighting. The software is more complicated than it’s supposed to be but when you master the ins and outs of the program, you won’t have any problems.

This mouse lacks an amazing 32-zone RGB light bar but the standard shape and size of the original Pulsefire FPS are practically unchanged. Besides, this mouse has the same Pixart 3389 sensor from the Surge, which is an update from the 3310 chip in the Pulsefire FPS.

While the standard Pulsefire had pre-set DPI intervals that you weren’t able to change, the Pro model allows you to choose any increments from 200 to 16.000 DPI.

6. Cooler Master MM710

Best $40 gaming mouse with 16000 DPI
mouse under 40 cooler master

DPI: 16000 | Interface: Wired | Buttons: 6 | Ergonomic: Ambidextrous

rank rank Rating

⊕ Very lightweight
⊕ Looks sophisticated and still durable
⊕ Gunk-resistant cover
⊕ Competitive configuration software
⊖ Extremely small
⊖ Shortcut buttons are for right-handed users only
⊖ Profile-save restrictions

Cooler Master MM710 has hollow, honeycombed design and is one of the lightest models on the market today. It's good that this is a new mouse as it’s undoubtedly the ugliest mouse I have ever tested.

Like other similar $40 gaming mice, MM710 is a no-frills basic mouse. It has a standard six-button right-handed setup.

There are two main clickers, a scroll wheel, a tracking resolution-switching button on the top and two macro buttons on the left.

7. Razer DeathAdder Elite

Best Аancy mouse with Chroma RGB
mouse under 40 razer deathadder

DPI: 16000 | Interface: Wired | Buttons: 7 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ Mechanical switches
⊕ Several DPI modes
⊕ 16.8 million RGB colors
⊖ For right-handed users only

The DeathAdder Elite is an inexpensive mouse with a decent set of specs. It comes with 7 easy-to-customize buttons, 2 Razer Chroma lighting zones and native DPI up to 16,000. While most gamers don’t need to use the maximum DPI, they will appreciate the mechanical switches that give them a competitive edge.

The switches account for better shooting speed and allow controlling a mouse with higher precision. You can play with low-sensitivity settings or adjust DPI to the maximum.

Regardless of the mode that you prefer, the device feels comfortable in your palm thanks to the side rubber grips. Thus, this best mouse under 40 USD won’t slide out of your hand and your in-game actions will be more effective.

You can choose one of the 16.8 million colors to adjust the lighting to your liking and make the mouse match the rest of your gear.

The Deathadder Elite delivers stable performance. It boasts a great speed, high accuracy and perfect aim, which makes it one of the best peripherals that I have tested recently. It is perfect for action-packed games where you need to have good reflexes to win.

8. Roccat Lua Tri-Button

Affordable wireless mouse for gamers
mouse under 40 roccat lua

DPI: 2000| Interface: Wired | Buttons: 4 | Ergonomic: Ambidextrous

rank rank Rating

⊕ Ambidextrous device
⊕ Convenient textured side-grips
⊕ Easy-to-customize thanks to Roccat software
⊕ Amazing optical sensor
⊖ The palm rest might seem too low

The Roccat Lua Tri-Button is a basic gaming mouse that comes without such advanced features as customizable extra buttons or adjustable weight. Nevertheless, the Lua has a classic shape and 4 useful buttons. While it lacks the pro-level functionality that more expensive devices have, it comes at a low price.

This wireless gaming mouse under 40 USD is even less expensive than the budget Razer Taipan that costs $25.98 at Amazon or the Steel Series Kinzu. Besides being quite affordable, it delivers great performance and can be considered as one of the best budget options on the market.

The body of the mouse is quite long. Some users complain that its 1.25-inch profile is too low to be truly comfortable. There is no rounded part on its back which is why it might be not the best option for those, who prefer a palm grip. As this mouse under 40 dollars is rather small, it is more suitable for a claw or fingertip grip.

9. Logitech G203 LIGHTSYNC

Best $40 gaming mouse with Lightsync RGB
mouse under 40 logitech g203

DPI:6000 | Interface: Wired | Buttons: 7 | Ergonomic: Right-handed

rank rank Rating

⊕ A budget option
⊕ Three-zone RGB lighting
⊕ Doesn’t weight much
⊖ Lots of competition at this price range
⊖ No advanced features

The G203 Lightsync is slightly reminiscent of the Logitech G203 Prodigy mouse that was released a couple of years ago. However, it has become much lighter and weighs only 2.1 ounces. It will be especially appreciated by pro-level gamers, who need to use a device with low response times to beat their opponents.

The G203 doesn’t weigh much and has a simple shape. The device doesn’t offer any extra features that you can find in more expensive models.

Thanks to the Logitech G Hub software, you can change profiles and select any RGB lighting mode that you want to use. Buttons are easy-to-customize, you can also choose between the available lighting presets. Creating custom lighting profiles might be a bit more time-consuming but you can master the ropes easily.

By default, this 40 dollar gaming mouse comes with the rainbow lighting effects but if you find them annoying, you can choose any other option.

Tips and Tricks to Choose the Mice for Different Tasks:

After thorough testing, we have selected the best gaming mice under $40 for budget-conscious gamers. Each of them is a perfect option if you don’t have loads of cash lying around. You can also take a look at more expensive peripherals that fall under the category of the best mice under 100 dollars.

For this list, we have selected only the devices that cost no more than $40 and fit my specific requirements. There are several features that we consider the most important for a mouse, such as battery capacity for wireless devices, comfortable design, a high-precision sensor, convenient buttons and solid build.

We have tested every best $40 gaming mouse personally to ensure that our reviews are absolutely accurate. As we don’t promote any products, we have selected only the mice that we consider to be the best offers on the market.

Points to Consider while Opting for a Gaming Mouse for Your PC

As these mice are cheap, they can’t beat high-end devices when it comes to performance or accuracy. However, they can still significantly enhance your gaming experience as they have all the necessary features that you need to overcome your opponents.

Battery capacity. It’s vital for wireless devices as they should deliver stable performance when you play action games. Some CSGO mice underperform when you use them in an energy-saving mode. That’s why you need to test a device before purchasing it or read detailed reviews. Battery life is one of the main criteria we were paying attention to when choosing the best mouse under 40 USD.

Keys. There aren’t a lot of gamers who prefer using a mouse with extra keys for gaming. However, we have made sure to test such devices to find the perfect products for those 3 percent of users, who like having a device with multiple keys.

Sensor. Another important feature to pay attention to is a sensor. The best gaming mouse under $40 usually comes with a great sensor, such as the Pixart 3360 or other similar versions. Besides, the best MOBA mice usually come with adjustable DPI. In most cases, you can choose between the minimum of 2400 and the maximum of 16000 DPI. It refers to the distance that the cursor covers when you move the mouse. If your mouse has high DPI, it is quite sensitive and quickly reacts to your movements.

Since high DPI makes your mouse less precise, adjustable DPI solves this issue. You can easily change it during a game to improve your gameplay. There are several occasions when adjustable DPI is pretty handy. For example, sometimes you need to use an 8 times scope to take a precise shot at a great distance when you play FPS games. In this case, you need to lower DPI to achieve better precision.

Comfort. Just like other pieces of your gaming gear, the best wireless mouse under 40 USD needs to have a solid build to serve you for years to come. Manufacturers release many devices that feel quite comfortable when you palm them. A well-thought-out design accounts for reducing wrist strain. If a mouse has high-quality switches, it is more durable and can pass any click test. Most devices on the market deliver up to 20 million clicks thanks to their switches. Among the mice that we have tested, only the M65 was made of aluminum. Other mice are more durable and have a solid build which adds to their reliability.

Lighting. Before testing these devices, we weren’t sure if we had to pay attention to RGB light effects. However, while they don’t influence the overall performance, they make your gaming experience more enjoyable. Many users consider these effects as one of the most distinctive features of a gaming mouse. This is why we have decided to take into account lighting while looking for a perfect 40 dollar gaming mouse.
