⊕ Widescreen curved IPS panel display
⊕ High-resolution image quality
⊕ Sturdy metal stand
⊕ AMD's FreeSync technology
⊖ Lower than ideal response time
⊖ Lack of HDR support

This 38-inch monitor offers a wide range of features that cater to different types of users. It has a curved IPS panel display, which not only provides an impressive color gamut coverage but also delivers high-resolution image quality. This means that as a photographer, you'll get accurate colors right out of the box, making it a great choice for editing photos. The ergonomic stand is also a plus, as it allows for full adjustment to maintain good posture while working.

With its 3,840 x 1,600 screen resolution and 60Hz refresh rate, this monitor is solid for productivity tasks. The curved design is also beneficial for viewing multiple windows side-by-side, which boosts productivity. The sturdy metal stand and base give the monitor a well-built feel, and it offers various adjustments for finding the perfect position on your desk.

2. LG 38WK95C-W

Curved UltraWide WQHD+ monitor

Screen size: 38-inch | Aspect ratio: 21:9 | Resolution: 3840 x 1600 | Brightness: 300 cd/m2 | Refresh rate: 75 Hz | Response time: 5 ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Contrast ratio: 1000:1 | Color support: 1B sRGB

⊕ Close-to-life colors, great level of detail
⊕ USB-C support and Bluetooth speakers
⊕ FreeSync
⊕ An easy-to-adjust stand
⊖ Limited FreeSync use
⊖ No HDR unless you have installed the software

Besides the massive display, it boasts stunning UWQHD+ resolution and edgy connectivity options. It is capable of displaying 3840×1600 pixels which translates into a 110.93 PPI ratio on a 37.5-inch display.

If you compare it with a 34-inch display, it is the same as 3440×1440 resolution while on a 27-inch screen it would be equal to 2560×1440 which is pretty amazing when it comes to image quality.

Visuals become sharper and acquire a greater level of detail without any scaling. While gamers will probably take the most out of this monitor, it is perfectly suited for image editing or other creative tasks.

Before making your choice, make sure to check if you have enough space on your desk, though. Compared to a 27-inch display, it is 1.5-inch taller and much wider. If you are used to working with dual-monitor setups, you might enjoy this monitor.

3. ViewSonic VP3881

UltraWide ViewSonic 38" monitor

Screen size: 38-inch | Aspect ratio: 21:9 | Resolution: 3840x1600 | Brightness: 300 cd/m2 | Refresh rate: 60 Hz | Response time: 7 ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Contrast ratio: 1000:1 | Color support: 100% sRGB

⊕ Factory-calibrated color accuracy
⊕ Solid build quality
⊕ Amazing screen size
⊕ High resolution is perfect for designer tasks
⊖ Limited color gamut coverage
⊖ OSD settings aren’t easy to use
⊖ Comes without HDR support

If you enjoy working on several tasks at once, you will have enough desktop space to see your content without zooming out. This 38 inch monitor beats easily 34-35-inch screens offered by other manufacturers.

Thanks to the IPS-display, viewing angles are pretty decent. The out-of-box calibration is amazing as well.

For better image quality, you can adjust settings on your own as there are many various modes, a uniformity correction included. All in all, this 38" monitor has been designed for professional use.

Despite HDR, one of its key drawbacks is its contrast levels. Another shortcoming is that it doesn’t cover a lot of color spaces which is especially noticeable when you have to work with Ultra HD content.

However, if the sRGB is enough for you, then make sure not to discount this option too quickly.

4. Acer XR382CQK

Acer 37.5-inch gaming monitor
acer 37.5-inch gaming monitor

Screen size: 37.5-inch | Aspect ratio: 16:9 | Resolution: 3840 x 1600 | Brightness: 300 cd/m2 | Refresh rate: 75 Hz | Response time: 1 ms | Viewing angle: 172/178 | Contrast ratio: 100,000,000:1 | Color support: 1B sRGB

rank rank Rating

⊕ Large-size display
⊕ Perfect for photo/video editing
⊕ Supports multi-tasking
⊕ Great sound quality thanks to the speakers
⊖ Weighs too much
⊖ Inputs aren’t easy to access

This 38 inch monitor has several modes, namely the Standard, sRGB, and Action ones and all of them fared exceptionally well when it came to color-saturation levels. However, the luminance ratio is too high.

While all the colors seem rich enough, they would have been even better with a lower ratio. To achieve a better balance, we have changed gamma and contrast levels. It has resulted in an over-saturated red color but allowed us to achieve a better luminance ratio.

There is an error at 2.23dE that accounts for the slightly unbalanced color reproduction. After making some adjustments, we managed to improve image quality by moving the error to 1.27dE. If you aren’t bothered by this hardly noticeable drawback, make sure to clear up your desk as this monitor needs a lot of space.

How to Choose the Best 38-inch Monitor?

38 inch monitor

If you want to upgrade to a powerful PC, the most important thing to do is to purchase a great HDR monitor with a high-quality display. It will significantly enhance your watching, working, or gaming experience.

How to Choose the Right Monitor

If you bought your previous monitor several years ago, 1024x768 resolution was considered to be a pretty good deal back then. However, times changed. After reading our 38 inch monitor reviews, you know that now manufacturers offer a wide variety of options.

What is even more important, these monitors come with eye comfort technology that allows reducing eye strain. Thanks to it, you won’t get tired much while working on your PC all day long. So, it might be a wise solution to invest in a good monitor now to be able to use it for years.

Quick Monitor Buying Tips

Start from deciding what you need a monitor for. There are options designed specifically for creative professionals, gamers, or casual users. Opt for a display with high resolution and refresh rate. The latter accounts for the speed at which your monitor updates its screen.

For gamers, short response time means that they will be able to enjoy a smoother gaming experience, especially if it comes with a high-quality monitor stand. This is truly important when it comes to graphics-intensive games.

Best Monitor Size for 1080p Gaming

Even if you have a 2K monitor with a 24-inch display, it will have a pixel density of about 91 PPI. It is enough for high image quality as you will be able to see all the details clearly.

27-inch monitors with 1080p are usually more expensive but they have a lower pixel density of about 81 PPI which is not enough for 1920×1080.

This is why such displays are not particularly impressive when it comes to the quality of the visuals. You will easily notice pixels if you sit close enough to the screen. This is why 34-inch monitors are used more often by gamers as they offer 3440×1440 or 2560×1080 resolution.

The latter has the same PPI as 27-inch 1080p monitors, so it’s hardly the best option unless you are on a budget.
