We decided to test the new Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version at FixThePhoto. I worked together with my colleague Kate. We needed to digitize contracts, collect feedback, and establish secure team access. From the get-go, we liked that the process became faster and easier thanks to the improved OCR and cloud integration. Besides, editing scanned documents was surprisingly accurate.
For a long time, I pieced together my document management workflow with several PDF editors. I had to spend rather much time and effort, editing scanned files. Moreover, the collaboration features were never quite up to par. I’m glad Adobe has released Acrobat Pro DC. It handles complex documents quickly and accurately. None of my previous tools could even come close to.

✔️ AI-powered OCR. I'm really excited about the possibility to OCR a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC thanks to AI technologies. It's amazing how accurately it picks up text from scanned PDFs.
I could turn those documents into editable text with precision I haven't seen elsewhere. Thus, users can forget about retyping and manual fixes. The program handles such tasks efficiently, no matter whether you upload detailed contracts or historical records.
✔️ Enhanced PDF commenting and collaboration. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC also offers terrific features for teams working on a single project. For instance, it is possible to annotate, highlight, and leave comments on a specific section, so that your team members can immediately grasp the situation. There is also real-time tracking of edits so that all people involved are in the loop of the progress. Furthermore, the improved cloud integration makes sharing and accessing updated versions a snap.
✔️ Form field recognition and auto-fill. When using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you don’t have to be an expert to create and edit documents. The automatic field recognition feature eliminates the need to manually add each field, as the software intuitively identifies and places them. In addition, this PDF filler has the autofill function that saves and adds recurring data instantly. I have tested it when working with large forms and templates, and should admit it is awesome.
✔️ Secure file sharing and e-signatures. People working with confidential documents are always extra mindful about security. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2024 version offers enhanced encryption settings for secure file sharing. Besides, you can e-sign your documents and send them to the other party promptly. Generally, signing documents myself or sending them for others to sign is fast and legally binding.
✔️ Customizable Action Wizard. Repetitive tasks don’t drive me crazy any longer. I can design custom actions based on my needs and speed up frequent processes. For example, I can batch convert PDF files into Word documents and add watermarks. This is particularly beneficial when I have lots of tasks and very tight deadlines.
❌ Steep learning curve for new users. If you’ve never used Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you may feel lost when you see a huge range of features there. I remember my own initial experience. I had to devote lots of time to get to grips with all the tools. The most challenging part was mastering instruments for document protection and form creation. Surely, there are tutorials, but you still need to get used to a confusing, feature-packed interface.
❌ Subscription-based pricing model. One thing to consider is that this software uses a subscription model. That means you'll be paying a regular fee, which may seem unjustified if you just need it every now and then. For people who use it all the time, it's a great deal, but if you only work with PDFs for certain projects, the ongoing cost can add up.
I've spent some time scrutinizing Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. Now, I have a few suggestions for how the company can make it even better for users:
I wanted to see popular Adobe Acrobat alternatives, so I studied the market meticulously. I took a close look at what each program could do. In fact, they all have their own pluses, but none of them quite matched the overall flexibility and smooth integration of the Adobe product.
Foxit PDF Editor is a good alternative. It's a reliable option, especially if you're after something that's less resource-intensive and easier on the wallet. Although it's pretty good for standard editing, it lacks some of the more advanced goodies you get with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. For instance, there are OCR functionalities and cloud connectivity. With Adobe Acrobat's AI tools, I can easily collaborate with others in real time and speed up routine procedures.
Another option worth considering is Nitro PDF Pro. In fact, this program has a lot in common with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, including editing tools, file conversion, and e-signatures. However, when it comes to navigating long, complicated documents, Nitro is less user-friendly. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC has an easier-to-use interface and lets you easily find a specific tool.
PDF-XChange Editor is great for quick jobs. However, it doesn't quite match Adobe Acrobat Pro DC when it comes to the more advanced assignments, especially if you're dealing with sensitive documents or need to do really detailed PDF editing.
The last but not the least replacement for the Adobe tools is Smallpdf. It is a wonderful option for quick online PDF fixes, but it's not quite in the same league as Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for consistent, heavy-duty work. You can rely on the software for one-time conversions or simple edits, but if you are dealing with large files, multiple document versions, or complex tasks, it is better to choose Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
So, all other PDF tools have something to brag about. Still, none of them can really compete with a huge set of features and integrations of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
