I am a first-year student at Northwestern University and I decided to download Soda PDF for different academic purposes cause it’s free and easy to use. I used it to create and edit PDF files for research papers, presentations, assignments, and study materials. This PDF editor is really worth the hype.
For me, some of the best benefits I’ve found are its helpful annotations, highlights, and collaboration features that are totally user-friendly and, hence, allow the handling of my study materials in the most efficient way because sometimes it’s a mess. The functionality of the program is so extensive that I do not even need any other software to edit PDFs.

Multiple PDF processing features
This PDF reader allows creating and manipulating documents, which is an indispensable feature for students. With it, I have no trouble formatting my research papers and assignments. The program enables me to tweak docs in a jiffy. Besides, I like creating presentations with this tool, as the process of adding logos, text, the needed statistics, and even links is intuitive and simplifies my study considerably.
Optical character recognition
The OCR feature is a highlight of the free Soda PDF version. It simplified the work with scanned docs, as I often need to scan various notes and other materials. With this OCR software, it is easy to turn scanned text into editable and searchable docs. So, my research for university projects did not consume so much time.
Document optimization
Merging, splitting, and compressing PDFs with the program is a no-brainer. These features are pivotal for organizing and managing academic materials more efficiently, It comes in handy when I need to merge several docs to share them as a single file.
Security features
Soda PDF is not only safe to download but also provides a range of security features to protect my sensitive info. So, I can be sure that that my work, which contains much original info and important data is secure. Knowing that no other people will get access to my projects gives me peace of mind that my data is safe.
No text-editing functionality
I was sad to find out that Soda PDF lacks text editing functionality. For instance, when I needed to correct my research paper or other types of work, I had to return to the original doc to re-export it as a PDF, which required much time and effort.
Sometimes weak performance
This way, the application is more than often unable to run without lags, crashing, slowing down, and all the other problems that it may have when processing some rather large PDF files. For example, I had to add annotations to a long research paper, and the persistent freeze was hindering me from being productive.
