SheepShaver was developed by a freelance graphic designer who goes by the name of Kevlin Green. SheepShaver was created as a personal project, however, it has been used in a number of websites. Kevlin Green has publicly stated that he did not release this software as a free download, because he believes that it is better left open for people to use for their own purposes. He has however, provided a means to download the SheepShaver program for free from his website.
SheepShaver is an Apple Mac OS X compatible free utility designed to perform image conversion on a computer system, starting from a CD or DVD. As is the case with most software, SheepShaver has a free demo version available for download from its website. This demo version allows one to try SheepShaver to determine whether it is suitable for their requirements. If one is happy with the utility, one may then purchase a SheepShaver CD or a SheepShaver DVD to install it on a personal computer.
