PeerGuardian is an open and free antivirus software released in 2003 by Phoenix Labs. It's capable of blocking outgoing and incoming connections depending on current IP address blacklists. The purpose of its usage was to prevent peers on the same file sharing network from any unauthorised access of your peer connection through IP addresses. This is done by generating an entry from each detected attack, which is then sent to your PeerGuardian administrator who will determine if the attack should be blocked or allowed.
PeerGuardian main goal is to prevent the spreading of the spyware, adware, malware and viruses into computers. This is due to its usage of both closed and open-source components, which allows users the flexibility of not only managing their programs but also deleting them if they're needed. Another great feature of this program is that it also offers a centralized help desk where technical support can be reached anytime of the day.
