PeerBlock software is an open-source network firewall that blocks incoming packets from, or traversing a managed list of blacklisted networks. PeerBlock is also the open-sourced Windows competitor to the well known software PeerGuardian. For example, PeerProtect requires you to configure its settings through the GUI interface and its firewall engine. In case of Peerblock on the other hand, it is usually configured through command line interface.

PeerBlock has been around for a long time and still continues to be the most popular software out there. PeerBlock has a very simple setup process and allows users to set up and manage their own personal Internet firewall with very little work. With its popularity comes a lot of different software products.
