Palm Desktop is a powerful personal information manager application for Microsoft Windows CE/macOS X and is used alone or in conjunction with a Palm OS portable, personal digital assistant (PDA). The Palm Desktop consists of five applications: Mail, Contacts, Reminders, Web, and Access. The Mail application provides the standard emailing functions such as composing, sending, receiving, and editing emails. The Contacts application lists contacts on a map or Favorites list.

The Palm Desktop also includes a feature known as Hotsync. This feature provides for synchronization across multiple devices, including PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, wireless notebook PCs, netbooks, and other net devices. This enables a new user to sign onto a different PC, laptop, tablet PC, etc. simultaneously without the need for user interaction. By using Hotsync, the user is able to use the device that is closest to them, regardless of whether they are on the same network or on different networks.
