Knopix is a fork of Linux with added features and capabilities. It is intended to fill the gap left when Microsoft's Terminal Server software license expires. At the time of this writing, Microsoft's Windows Server is no longer supported by the majority of users, leaving them without a support network in place of an installation support team. On the other hand, Linux still enjoys a strong user base, and there are still a substantial number of people using it that would benefit from having a support system in place for the operating system.
The Knoppix software is fast. Although not as fast as some of the other, more mainstream solutions, it is still fairly efficient and has very good battery life. Some reviews of the software note that it runs much cooler than some other similar programs, which may account for the difference in performance. In addition, it is extremely stable and has excellent security measures, protecting the user from possible spyware and adware that may be hidden away on the system.
