DocuSign is an American private company based in San Francisco, California, which enables companies to manage secure electronic documents electronically. This is done through a process of providing specially-designed software that users can download from the company's website. Once downloaded, the software allows the user to digitally sign various forms of documents, such as legal documents, business proposals, contracts, and SOPs (standard Operating Procedure statements).

One of the main purposes of DocuSign is to standardize the electronic signature procedure and the relatedvernacular for signature on various types of documents. For example, it was one of the first companies to implement the Electronic signatures protocol on a universal basis. It also pioneered the use of biometrics in its document authentication systems.
