Polaroid Zip iPhone pic printer is designed according to the Zink technology. It means that photo paper contains inbuilt pigment crystals.
Being heated by the printer, the crystals become blue, purple and yellow providing a full-colored image going through the printer for one time. It reduces the materials used since the only thing to be changed is the photo paper.
This Polaroid photo printer for iPhone is light and looks compact because of round corners and edges. It is available in white and black.
Pictures are printed using a special mobile app ‒ Polaroid Zip, available in the App Store or via Bluetooth connection. The advantage of this app is an integrated editor and the ability to download pictures from a gallery.
I have tested the print speed of one image and it was 42 seconds. Unfortunately, the quality is significantly lower in comparison with a full-featured printer.

Unlike inject printers that put ink on the paper surface, SP-2 uses self-developing film ‒ Fujifilm Instax Mini.
One of the greatest strengths of this iPhone portable photo printer is the usage of a new laser exposure system. In such a way, the developers cut the printing time to 10 seconds. However, it is not a great achievement in comparison with other iPhone printers.
Since there are no ink and paper, the tape is the only expendable material. That is why, being also very compact, this model is good for trips. It uses a rechargeable removable battery meant for 100 prints on one charge.
A free Share app allows using filters and samples before printing. You may add text, adjust brightness, contrast and saturation and even add geo-location captured by your mobile. You may create mini-collages too.

Canon Selphy CP1300 is a printer to print pictures from iPhone that offers a beneficial combination of a low price and operating costs, portability, multiple selections of connections and decent printing quality.
The printer has a 2.7-inch color display and many buttons including a four-position controller with a central “OK” button and “On”, “Back”, “Print”, “Edit”, and “Menu” buttons. There are also “Zoom In” and “Zoom Out” buttons and a Wi-Fi button.
Unlike other iPhone printers, which are limited by one-size printed photos, Canon may create 4 x 6, 2.1 x 3.4, 3.5 x 4.7 and 2 x 2 pics. Moreover, this iPhone pic printer has an SD card slot and a USB port in case you want to print pics without a mobile or PC.
It should be mentioned that this model uses ink cartridges to get better image quality. Being rather old, this technology provides decent results.
Depending on the chosen format, the print speed varies from 27 to 47 seconds. One picture costs about 33 cents and it is one of the cheapest printers on this list.

Do you like Canon Selphy but its size and weight put you away from buying it? Try Canon Ivy. It is a printer with the Zink technology allowing you to print directly from social networks or your phone’s gallery.
You may use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth for connection. The print speed is approximately 50 seconds which is 10 seconds faster than Polaroid photo printers offer but significantly slower than Fujifilm Instax Share SP-2 has.
Using the Canon Mini Print app, you may edit pics applying various filters and special effects. One of the functions offered solely by Canon Mini Print is a mosaic or combination of several prints at the edges to create bigger images or collages.
Speaking about the printing quality, it is quite average. Absence of the black basic color results in a noticeable lack of depth. In other words, don’t expect colorful, bright and sometimes breath-taking images from this iPhone pic printer. If you are looking for such results, use a five- or six-colored consumer-level printer.

HP Sprocket is a pocket photo printer for iPhone, actually one of the smallest devices that I used for work. Like Polaroid Zip, HP Spectr uses the Zink technology where the paper is covered with several pigment layers (transparent crystals).
According to the manufacturer, one battery charge is enough for 35 shots. However, having charged the battery (it took me 90 minutes), I managed to print 33 pics.
The print speed is 24-44 seconds.
The printing quality, like with Polaroid, is not the best one and depends on the depicted object. For example, if the picture has red color (red tulip flower bed), the color will look muted; if there are any light areas (landscape picture with light sky), the contrast will be lost.
Before printing, you can use their HP Sprocket app to add funny stickers or inscriptions to your images. Moreover, you may sync the app with your accounts in social networks and print directly from there.

Kodak Dock Photo Printer is one of the best portable printers available for 4x6 high-quality image printing (the largest size of the original photo among the top iPhone printers). But offering the best print quality as compared to the rest of the printers on this list, Kodak Dock has a very bulky body, namely, a large tray, without which it is impossible to print a photo.
Kodak iPhone pic printer uses patented advanced dye-sublimation print technology, which ensures maximum quality, combined with a protective layer that prevents stains, tears and damage.
In addition to printing from a smartphone, you can also print from USB flash drives, which you can navigate using a connected smartphone. Another advantage is the docking system, which can charge your devices while you waiting for a printout.

You may have seen my review of Fujifilm Instax Share in which I described its retro features. Now, I want to concentrate attention on Lifeprint Hyperphoto Printer’s futuristic concept. It provides the possibility to turn still photos into augmented reality animations.
If you are interested in producing a hyperphoto, just take a snapshot of your clips on a phone. When the “thumbnail” has been printed, Lifeprint 3 x 4.5 “intrudes” some of the video data on the paper.
Opening the Lifeprint app to view a photo, you can see a video playback on the screen. The greatest thing is that a video plays strictly within the borders of an image.
The cost of one print is $1.25 per photo, but this is only because of the ability to print "hyperphotographs", which most iPhone printers can boast of.
The Lifeprint mobile application reminded me of Instagram in combination with image storage. There are five icons available across the bottom line and they are intuitive: camera, library, video playback mode from your photos, search for other accounts/videos/photos and your personal page.

This iPhone portable photo printer doesn’t use the ZINK system. Instead, there is a small sublimation ink cartridge, similar to the Canon Selphy printer, but smaller.
It prints 2x3-inch images and connects to smartphones via Bluetooth or Near Field Communication (NFC). Kodak sells tape and paper in packs of 20, 30 and 50 sheets.
As for my tests, Kodak Mine 2 produced the best-quality images among all miniature printers (HP Sprocket X7N07A, Polaroid Zip), but this quality was achieved at the cost of speed - the speed of one print was about 90 seconds, which is slower compared to the rest of pocket photo printers for iPhone that I’ve tested.
I should mention the free companion application that offers a wide selection of customizable filters, stickers and templates that give your photos an additional appeal. But at the same time, the application often crashes and freezes, which makes it ineffective.

⊖ Printing is possible only with the help of Lightning
There are several miniature printers compatible with iPhone on the market, but Prynt Pocket printer is unique because it is designed to connect your iPhone using the Lightning connector, which has its advantages and disadvantages.
As the main advantages, I can name the reliability of the connection, fast printing speed (30 seconds), as well as the ability to print directly from social networks, but that’s probably all.
Although Prynt Pocket connects to your iPhone using Lightning, it won’t give your phone few extra percent of the charge, and its print quality is significantly inferior even to cheap printers iPhone printers. Anyway, it supports video “printing”.
The company tries to impress the clients with really generous and beneficial offers, one of which is the unlimited supply of paper if you select a corresponding subscription plan ($17.50 per month).
When there is little paper left, the app sends info to the company and they send you more. If it isn’t something you need, you can get a pack of paper with 20, 40 and 60 sheets.

Portable Instant offers wireless printing of 3.5×2inch color photographs with a resolution of 291 dpi. It uses self-contained PRTPICKET22 ink cartridges comprising both paper and ink, which makes it easy to replace them even if you don’t know the technology.
This iPhone pic printer allows you to select an image from the device’s photo library or choose one of several sources on social networks. In my tests, on average, printing took 85 seconds, which can be a problem if you print on the street in bad weather.
The compatible application is called PICKIT. Using it, you can quickly edit and adjust color settings, add filters, select a portrait or landscape orientation and set image borders.

What are the features of the best iPhone printer? Do you want the best portable all-in-one photo printer? It must be fast and cost-effective, have long battery life and produce wonderful picture quality. To select a good printer to print pictures from your iPhone, pay attention to these aspects.
The picture quality is defined by resolution (dpi) which should vary from 300 to 320 dpi and printing technology that can be ink (cartridge), which is less convenient, but more effective in reproducing color, and ZINK, which is easier to use, but inferior in quality.
Almost all manufacturers indicate the print speed. As practice shows, a good average speed is 40-60 seconds per photo.
Battery life is an equally important factor, especially if you often travel or spend most of the time outdoors. Basically, the best mini printers have the same battery (500-750 mA an hour), and give out about 30 shots (this is considered as normal number). I don’t recommend choosing printers that print less than 20 pictures on one full charge.
The cost of one print is a moot point, and it depends on the printing technology. If we are talking about ZINK printer, prices per sheet will vary from $0.75 to $2. There is such a difference in the cost because each manufacturer makes almost invisible changes in size and design and patents the product to set his/her own price.
When it comes to ink printing, everything is simple and the prices will be the same. You buy ink cartridges and separately paper. Though it is inconvenient, it is significantly cheaper (an average cost is $0.50 per photo).
While choosing the best iPhone printer, you need to understand how you will use your images. If you're going to print photos from your iPhone for fun, consider buying an HP Sprocket or Canon Ivy.
If you feel creative and inventive, try Fujifilm or Polaroid Zip.
For serious work, you should get Canon Selphy as it does everything an ordinary printer can do. Kodac Dock can replace a large format photo printer.
