PicPick is an interesting open source project from the Linux community, whose main goal is to make an alternative to the classic clipboard based image capturing utility like Grimo. PicPick doesn't aim to replace this utility but it can complement it in many ways. The biggest pro that I can think of for PicPick is its ability to create screenshots. PicPick allows you to create screenshots that you can use as thumbnails on most portable storage devices.

Another pro that I can think of for PicPick is its auto-hints. Auto-hints are functions that run at the end of every session that reveal hidden functions or shortcuts that the user hasn't seen or touched. For PicPick, there is an 'appearance' option which will reveal the latest functions so that you don't have to type in the command again. You simply need to click the small arrow on the lower right corner of the screen.
