My Experience

Since joining FixThePhoto in early 2014, now I can combine my photographer career, trends in digital everything, and storytelling. My journey began long before then, starting at film rather than digital. Growing up in Austin, Texas, at the family of videographers, I started to film my parents and help them in promoting their services through photos on cards.

After earning a degree in Visual Arts and Photography from the University of Texas, I improved my skills as a beauty photo retoucher, specializing in complex digital manipulation. This foundation gave me a basic understanding of composition, lighting, and the nuances of post-production which then helped find my position at the FixThePhoto service.

FixThePhoto became the perfect platform to share insights on cameras, lenses, and other equipment. Over the past 12 years, I’ve covered multiple topics ranging from beginner-friendly models to cutting-edge camera phone settings, always trying to make complex technical concepts accessible to readers of all skill levels, because usually the while tech community likes talking very difficult.

Today, I’m based in Rome, Italy, a city that continually fuels my creative vision. When I’m not working, you’ll find me exploring all wine neighborhoods with my camera or experimenting with new light scenarios. Photography isn’t just my profession, it’s a lifelong passion.

My Expertise Includes:

Technology and Tools I Use

Every piece of equipment I use has a story, a purpose, and a place in my creative process. My Canon EOS R5 is more than just a camera, it’s my window to the world’s details through which I show the way I see people. I vividly remember taking it to the Pacific Northwest last autumn, capturing the mist rolling over evergreen forests at dawn. Its dynamic range made every shot look like a painting, even in low light, like the cozy golden glow of a firelit cabin in the woods.

I pair it with the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, which has become my all-in-one companion. Whether I’m photographing vibrant street scenes in Barcelona or candid family moments during a backyard barbecue, it delivers sharp, versatile results. For portraits, though, my favorite is the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2. Last spring, I used it to capture a series of portraits for a close friend's wedding. The creamy bokeh and the way it isolates subjects made each image feel almost ethereal.

One of the most exhilarating additions to my gear has been the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone. On a recent trip to Rome, I took it out early one morning to avoid the crowds and filmed the sun rising over the Colosseum and the Tiber River. That lightweight model has opened up a whole new perspective for me, and now I can’t imagine traveling without it.
