I studied software engineering and expected to work as a developer. But I kept reaching for my phone to shoot and edit videos, often when I should have been doing coursework. Casey Neistat’s vlogs made me see how much you could do with a good idea, careful timing, and a camera you already owned. I started taking photography and video more seriously, and eventually made them my work.
In 2023, I began experimenting with short videos on Instagram and TikTok. Later, I started testing Reels and YouTube Shorts as those formats developed. I wanted to understand why some videos held people’s attention while others were quickly passed over. I still test editing styles, transitions, AI apps, and mobile accessories to see where they help and where they fall short.
At FixThePhoto, I work with the team to test mobile apps and tools and cover social media trends. We compare apps side by side and turn what we learn into practical advice for creators. I’m also an ambassador for the FixThePhoto app, which lets people get professional photo edits from their phones.
I enjoy finding ways to shoot without an elaborate setup. I’ve used a white shower curtain to soften light, a baking tray to bounce it, and a kitchen shelf as a small product studio. Outside work, I skateboard, film street culture with friends, collect old film cameras, and look for new coffee spots around the city.
I do most of my shooting on an iPhone 15 Pro and edit with CapCut, VN, and Lightroom Mobile. When I need more control over video settings, I use the Blackmagic Camera app. I also test effects and templates within TikTok and Instagram to see how useful they are in practice.
For steadier footage, I use a DJI Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal. Moment wide and macro lenses give me more options when shooting on my phone. I carry a RØDE Wireless GO II for audio and a compact Ulanzi LED light for low light shoots. Testing this gear in everyday situations helps me give creators recommendations they can put to use.
